County Administrator's Office

Dear Inglewood Unified School District Staff, Students, Families, and Community Members,
As we enter spring, it is critically important that we all work together to support our students in maintaining focus, as both students and staff prepare for the final months of the school year.
This is the time of year, when many of our students are taking important tests and thinking about summer plans. At the same time, the warmer weather can make it more difficult for students to focus and remain committed to the hard work of studying and absorbing as much knowledge as possible. Parents and guardians, positive reinforcement, words of encouragement, and thoughtful gestures can make a world of difference and a heartwarming note in your student’s backpack, a special time together on the weekend, or a simple hug, can make a positive difference for your son or daughter. Our students need us to constantly remind them how special and important they are.
Similarly, our District’s staff are also truly remarkable and I encourage you to join me in expressing our gratitude towards them. The IUSD team has navigated through a challenging school year. In spite of the challenges, our staff has been working very hard this year to stay focused on serving children and the community. They understand that our commitment to the students and families of Inglewood requires us to do extraordinary things on behalf of the children.
As we celebrate teacher, administrator and classified employee appreciation days in the coming weeks, parents and guardians please take a few minutes to thank your student’s teacher(s) and send a kind note to your principal. Have your child draw a special picture for the bus driver or school secretary. Furthermore, have your child make a card for the custodial who keeps the classroom clean or the Food Services who work to prepare nutritious meals. Small gestures of kindness go a long way in reminding the IUSD staff that they are loved and appreciated.
Let me end by reminding you that this month is also volunteer appreciation month and this District could not function without the dedicated support and the hours upon hours of valuable support donated by thousands of classroom and school volunteers. It takes a team to educate our students and together, we will continue to build the best school District in California!
Together, #WeAreInglewoodUnified
Sincerely,
James Morris, Ed.D.County Administrator
